It all began when at the age of 17 on his walk to North Seattle CC, Walking past American Music Recording Studios, he heard music coming from inside, so he gave them a call.

Richard Williams has been a part of the music industry since 1981,

playing in many different bands, running sound, mixing and recording for even more. It all began when at the age of 17 on his walk to North Seattle CC, Walking past American Music Recording Studios, he heard music coming from inside, so he gave them a call. Brad Spur, the chief engineer at the studio, had told him if he cleans up around the place, he would take him under his wing and teach him about audio. Richard's life quickly changed path. He dropped out of college and left his job with the Teamsters Union to become an audio engineer. Eric Barger, another engineer at American Music Recording, saw how Richard had an ear for audio and took him to Robert Lang Studios where he was hired as a paid assistant. Robert Lang, Eric Barger and Rick Eaks, and engineer at Robert Lang's, all paid out of pocket to put together his salary. After his time at Robert Lang Studios, he landed a gig as Chief Engineer at Metrix Recording Studio in South Everett until he started his live sound career. Starting in 1999, Richard opened up an all analog studio of his own, eventually acquiring Pro Tools, Plum Tree Recording Studios is still active today.
